Day 2 - Stonehenge & Salisbury

Ishicilelwe: 14.08.2016

Today I want to see the stones of Stonehenge πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€ at first. That's why Salisbury is part of my journey. So I take the bus to the visitors center of Stonehenge. From that, I have two possibilities: Buy a ticket for Β£ 16,50 for the transfer to the stones, an audio guide and go around the stones with many many other tourists or to walk through the fields and see the stones further away. At home I got the tip, that I shouldn't buy the ticket. So I don't buy the ticket and start to walk with some others through the field. It's a nice walk and the weather is fine. After I arriving I have a good view to the stones from the sheep field on 😁.

With a little bit patience, I have a picture of Stonehenge without any people. πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€ Stonehenge is very fascinated. To see this old big stones in the middle of nowhere is incredible. I'm sure that this will be the highlight of my day.

I'm also interested in seeing woodhenge, which should be also fascinating. But thos would be a walk of an hour from Stonehenge. If I will go there, the way back to the visitors center where the bus will take me back, would be one and a half hour. There are not signs which show the way. Only some tables with a plan. I'm not so much interested to do this way alone. Not so much risk at the first day. πŸ˜‰πŸ˜ So I walk ack to thevisitor center. On my way I meet an English man and talk with him about Stonehenge. He was here in the past when he could walk through the stones and touch them. Unfortunately I missed this time. Today he also hasn't paid fora ticket. He complements me, that I also haven't bought a ticket. 😊😊😊

So I go back to Salisbury to see the cathedral which is very famous, because it was the biggest tower in England. It's a very nice church. I also go inside. In the church there is some modern culture. That's little bit strange. πŸ˜‚Β

After my visit at the cathedral I want to go to the walk through the Harnham Water Meadows. That's a tip in my travel book. From this way I see the cathedrale situated in green as it was 200 years ago. On the way I find the Mompesson House. That's the house and the garden, where the Jane Austen-movie 'Sence and Sensibility' was filmed. Although I haven't seen the movie, I visit the garden. It costs only Β£ 1 and it's not so worth seeing.Β

When I'm back from the walk, I take the time to relax in the Queen-Elisabeth-Gardens and enjoy the sun. It's very sunny and warm today. It's a pity, that no beach/sea is in Salisbury. 😯

Before I go back to my accomodation, I decide to have dinner first. So I don't have to leave again. Ihope that I don't look so bad after I was out the whole day. This time I choose a nice restaurant where I can eat pasta, pizza and meat. I choose pasta with red pesto, creme fraiche and spring onions. It's very delicious. 😍 I also take a dessert, hot brownie with vanilla cream. It's very very delicious. 😍😍😍 If you ever come to Salisbury, I can recommend the restaurant 'WILDWOOD'.

So now my first part of the trip is over. I have to pack my backpack again and will leave tomorrow morning.
