# Luang Prabang

Ishicilelwe: 20.02.2018

The past 3 days we were in Luang Prabang - Laos. Laos used to be a French colony and its effects can still be seen today. Not only are the houses influenced by French style, but also the cuisine. There are numerous French cafes where you can buy delicious sandwiches. A very nice change, especially for us Germans :)

During the 3 days, we did a lot of activities with the people from the slow boat. First, we visited a beautiful waterfall. Unlike the ones in Pai, this waterfall has enough water all year round.

One day, we visited a pool. More precisely, a pool and bar. There, we enjoyed the cold pool water and delicious gin tonics.

The 'special' thing about Luang Prabang is that the bars close at 11:30 pm and the only option for further activities is the bowling center. Outside the bars, there are numerous tuk-tuk drivers who want to take you to the bowling center. We couldn't miss that opportunity and went bowling with a total of 15 people.

A few kilometers upstream is the Pak Ou Cave. We visited it with a slow boat, which even made a short stop at the Whiskey Village. There, you can buy whiskey with a snake or scorpion in the bottle, as well as whiskey without animals. When we arrived at the cave, we had to climb some stairs. Upwards and downwards, because the cave has two levels. Inside, there are numerous Buddha statues. It was a shame that there was no lighting and we had to walk around in the dark. The anticipation was great due to the description in the travel guide, but it was quickly disappointed. I thought there would be several hundred rather large Buddha statues in the cave. In reality, most of them were tiny and not really majestic. The most interesting thing was the paintings on the cave walls. And the boat ride there was also very nice.

Tomorrow we are going to Vietnam, specifically to Sapa, by a 15-hour bus.
