After a whole 12-hour bus ride, I finally arrived in New York at 8 in the morning. I found a cafรฉ and spent my morning there before my bus continued on to Newark for the airport. It was supposed to be a 35-minute drive, but well, it turned into a full 4 hours. First, the bus collided with the car in front of us, so we all had to go to the police station, and eventually, I made it to the airport. This time, it wasn't about flying from the airport, but about picking up Elizabeth, who was returning from Oregon. After we were also stopped by the police on the highway with Uber because our driver missed the exit and wanted to backtrack to the next one on the shoulder, which of course didn't go super well, I was very glad to have arrived at Katherine's house in the evening. The next day, we set off for Maine, the northernmost state on the East Coast of the USA. After a few hours of driving and some bathroom breaks for the dogs, we finally arrived. In the evening, the six of us cooked together and enjoyed a cozy end to the day. The next morning, we immediately tried out the private beach and went swimming in the slightly cold but refreshing Atlantic. Afterwards, we headed to Portland, Maine, and took a stroll through the small but quite nice town. We spent the rest of the day together around Cape Elizabeth, enjoying the beach, walking, relaxing, cooking, and eating ice cream. The next day was rainy, but we didn't let that deter us and walked in the morning to Fort Williams Lighthouse, and in the afternoon we headed to a nearby national park. There, we took a walk with the dogs and enjoyed the mystical atmosphere. Next, we went on a little shopping tour in Freeport. Evenings were spent cooking together before we enjoyed the meals as a group. I also really wanted to see the sunrise from the beach, so I got up at 5. We sat on the beach and enjoyed the first rays of sunlight of the day. As soon as the sun showed herself in all her glory, I was already in the water, starting my day more than perfectly! Afterwards, Katherine and I took a walk with the dogs and got lost in such a small town as Cape Elizabeth! After more than 2 hours, we found our way back home and were incredibly excited for breakfast. After breakfast, it was back to the sea for a refreshing swim. In the afternoon, we checked out one of the few sandy beaches in Maine and had a blast in the waves. Unfortunately without a surfboard this time, but I still had fun! So the last day sadly arrived. During the morning, we made our way back to Connecticut. On our way back, we stopped in Storrs to try the famous ice cream from UConn University. For American standards, it was really very good! Thus, our beautiful 5 days in Maine came to an end! ๐ซถ๐ผ
