Way earlier than we probably needed to, we met at Düsseldorf airport on Sunday at 11 am and couldn’t wait for our journey to finally begin. After suitcases had been scaled and chocolates had been transferred, we were able to proceed to our gate and wait for our flight to Amsterdam. After a quick scare (someone had forgotten their passport on the plane, but luckily it was found in time), we made it to our connection.
For most of us it was the first time being on a plane for that long but time flies when you’re taking pictures of your sleeping teacher, I guess.
When we finally arrived at the airport in Salt Lake City, all the host families were there to greet us, holding signs and posters and clapping and cheering for us. Now it meant English only for everyone. We all went home with our host parents and got to talk for a little bit before the exhaustion was overwhelming and we had to go to bed. After all, school was at 7:15 the next morning.
