Day 4

Ishicilelwe: 20.03.2023

Today our journey started after a good breakfast at 9:30 am. We drove to Timna Valley National Park loaded with sunscreen, drinks, and cameras. Upon arrival, we first made a stop at the Visitor Center. The 360-degree cinema provided insight into the history of the place and how copper was mined there thousands of years ago. After trying on many sunglasses and with the help of Mrs. Paproth's careful consultation, we set off into nature.

The first stop was at a viewpoint. And of course, we took a group selfie first. We also stayed completely silent for a minute and could enjoy complete silence.

Then we continued to the next stop. There was a huge mushroom-shaped rock in the desert. We took this opportunity to take another group picture. Many of us also hiked up the mountain next to it, and some even made it to the top. From here, we had a fantastic view in all directions, and the huge mountains amazed us once again.

After a short and very bumpy ride to the next station, we could admire Egyptian drawings and then go to huge rock arches. We climbed a lot on the rocks, took many photos, and enjoyed our time. Luckily, Mrs. Paproth's broken shoe could be saved thanks to Leah's hair tie.

After cooling down and resting briefly on the bus during the drive to the Salomon Pillars, we continued. Here, we not only admired the huge stone pillars formed in the rock wall but also saw a few ibexes shortly before our departure.

Finally, we stopped at the artificially created oasis, and although Paul finally found his long-awaited water, to his and our disappointment, he discovered that swimming is prohibited. Apparently, it was so important to them that they had to put up a sign every 3 meters. Nevertheless, we spent our time here filling small bottles with colored sand and recovering from the sun. Unfortunately, a sad event occurred here: Mrs. Paproth lost her hat.

Although we were completely exhausted when we arrived back at the hostel around 4 PM, the motivation to finally go to the beach was even higher. We quickly got ready and could spend a few lovely minutes in the water before the sun set.

In the evening, our paths slightly diverged again. Many of us cooked and ate together at the hostel.

Later, we enjoyed the community with lots of wine and beer and got to know great people from different countries.
