14 to Bargen

Ishicilelwe: 27.09.2024

Distance 73 kilometers, cumulative 1,143 kilometers | Elevation gain 470, cumulative 5,930 meters, distance to home 63 kilometers

Now I have only one tour left ahead of me. According to my plan, I will be home tomorrow, exactly 2 weeks after my departure. Maybe that's why the sky is crying. At least many tears fell from the clouds today. And tomorrow there are expected to be many more. So another rainy rest day? NO, definitely not. Because rain doesn't really bother me much while cycling. And since I have enough hot water for a shower and many dry clothes to wear tomorrow, I will take it a bit easier.

Since I had a significant climb the day before yesterday, I was able to benefit from it today. I had to brake more than pedal down to Estavayer. From there, it was a mix of ups and downs until it finally became completely flat.

A few times, I let the heaviest rain pass while in a dry spot. Then, at times, there was no rain at all, and the sun even showed itself in between.

I had never been to St. Peter's Island before. I didn't want to miss this today. Although it was a detour of over ten kilometers, it was worth it. Additionally, the weather was dry or even sunny the whole time.

On the recommendation of my hosts today, I also visited the nearby village of Erlach. This detour was very much worth it. The place reminded me a lot of Gruyère. I can highly recommend a trip there.

Today, a strong to stormy westerly wind was also blowing. This helped me along long stretches and pushed me almost like a second engine.

After settling into my accommodation in Bargen, I walked to Aarberg to buy a few small things.
