The highland has enchanted us - we finally arrived

We would have loved to fill the third blog entry with repeated 'how beautiful it is here, how beautiful it is here...', but that is not informative enough for the reader and - admittedly - a bit boring.
However, it is a mystery to us how to describe these unique panoramas. Not even photos can capture the impressions we have gained in the slightest.

The entire journey from Stirling to Portnadoran on the west coast at the height of the Isle of Skye was commented by us with 'oh' and 'ah'. Suddenly, there was then hectic: 'Stop! I need to take a photo!' followed by wild maneuvers to not miss the lay-by. The winding road led us mile by mile through forests interspersed with blooming rhododendrons, past ferns (I have never heard of that and maybe the word doesn't even exist, but I can't describe it any other way), and through steep canyons with rocky riverbeds. As far as the eye can see, the landscape is lush green, hill after hill, and somehow a feeling of freedom spreads in these endless expanses (oh, how cheesy we are!).

Only Ida was completely unimpressed, which is a bit too much to ask from a 3.5-year-old to be enthusiastic about the landscape for several hours. But she also managed the journey well with 'Bibi and Tina', although the joy was obvious when she was finally allowed to get off at the coast.

Our first campsite is located directly behind rocks on the coast of Arisaig on a cow meadow. Our hosts are primarily farmers who rent out pitches and provide sanitary facilities as a side job in the summer. It is clean and we have a unique view of the water and, under good conditions, also of the islands of Eigg, Rum, and Skye.

The tent was set up relatively quickly, even though we didn't have a proper plan and pursued different ideas. It is quite luxurious with us: with carpet in the living room, wardrobe and kitchenette, terrace and doormat. However, we are still far from glamping. For that, we would need at least better beds and a fully equipped fitted kitchen.

We ended the day digging and fishing algae in the evening sun, so that Ida also got her money's worth. At 11:00 PM, it was still bright, so the evening routine with Ida was completely turned upside down. But that's what vacations are for. We'll deal with the consequences later in Frankfurt.
