Day 5: Monkey Forest Ubud

Ishicilelwe: 24.03.2017

Today we went to Monkey Forest in Ubud at 9 am. On the way, we saw many cute dogs again. The entrance fee was about €4.50 per person and is worth it. Monkey Forest is simply a large forest/jungle where monkeys live freely. There is also a cemetery and a temple in the forest, but these are sacred places and were closed to visitors, only the monkeys were jumping around inside. We saw so many monkeys, from very small ones to the big ones. Luckily, there are staff members everywhere who make sure that monkeys and humans get along. It is also nice that there are special resting places for the monkeys in case they've had enough of tourists. I even had a monkey sitting on my shoulder, but unfortunately it was one of the big ones and I was scared. Padi was satisfied just standing next to a monkey ;)

In total, we spent 2 hours in the park and saw amazing animals and a fascinating landscape. As the noon approached, more and more tourists arrived, unfortunately, some of them did not follow the park rules. It was especially bad for mother monkeys with babies, as they were being crowded.

We uploaded some of the pictures, feel free to browse through them :)

We used the afternoon to rest and Patrick had a Balinese massage (1 hour - €7). Now, feeling deeply relaxed, we will go for dinner before the volcano hike tonight at around 2 am. The active volcano Mount Agung is 3142m high and we are supposed to be at the top for the sunrise, we are looking forward to it.
