Udaipur - City of lakes

Ishicilelwe: 15.03.2018

Three days we have been in Udaipur now, before we move on to Mumbai by sleeper bus.

Three very relaxed days, except for the honking around us, which we can no longer bear -_- or rather our ears can no longer take it.

Udaipur is a city with many lakes, which is why it is often referred to as the "City of Lakes". It even reminds you of Venice in some places. The city is surrounded by a very hilly and dry landscape, as we have seen in Rajasthan several times already. Standing on a hill, you have breathtaking and very varied views. What made the city appear typical to us was the craftsmanship. At every corner, there is forging and tailoring, or beautiful, delicate pictures painted. We even gave in to buying a small picture on silk with paint made from stones.

The highlights of our days were the sunsets on a hill (also called Sunset Point) or in front of the water and the scooter ride. We decided to explore the city and the surroundings with a scooter. It was so good, we felt so free and could easily leave the city without having to negotiate with a tuk-tuk driver for a long time. Finn drove most of the time and he did a great job. You should have seen the faces of the Indians. Two white people on a scooter in the traffic conditions and narrow, congested streets. That was a very funny and positive experience. It was definitely not the last time we rented a scooter.

What moved us greatly was an animal rescue station for all animals that were hit by a vehicle, ate too much plastic waste, or are simply sick. But most often it is dogs and cows. We had never seen paraplegic dogs or cows with an amputated leg before. It was quite intense, but the animals were really well taken care of there. There were several veterinarians and many helpers on site. Emely even helped with feeding the calves right away.

It's great that there are also people in India with a heart for animals.

Bleibt gesund.
