Cusco is the capital of the Andes. Before the invasion of the conquistadors, Cusco was the center of the Inca Empire, which extended from Santiago de Chile to Colombia in its heyday. In and around Cusco, you can feel the legacy of the Incas. The most famous site is Machu Picchu, which is located a few hours outside of Cusco.
So far, we haven't visited any sites yet. We spent the last few days attending language school and dining at restaurants.
Now the various Inca ruins around Cusco are on the schedule.
In the meantime, we are following the events in Bolivia. I am in contact with acquaintances in La Paz whom I met four years ago: Remo advises me to wait another week because the Venezuelan and Cuban diplomats, who are allegedly supporting the current unrest, will be expelled from the country. On the other hand, Claudia strongly advises against traveling to Bolivia at the moment. In this sense, we don't feel stressed and will probably stay in Peru for a while longer. Whether we will go to Bolivia is still undecided, but at the moment it seems more likely that we will bypass Bolivia...
