Day 18: Diving and hiking

Ishicilelwe: 04.06.2019

Tobi has to get up early today. His diving boat leaves the port of Krk at 9 a.m. Leonora and I are getting up with him. Marik sleeps longer. When Marik wakes up, he is very disappointed. He would have liked to go diving. When I explain to him that he has to be bigger for that, he replies 'but I am already big'. I distract him with muesli and promise to go swimming with him today.

After breakfast, we start a little hike. I bring the stroller with me. It's a bit more cumbersome, but the advantage is that Marik can ride on the buggy board if he can't or doesn't want to walk anymore. It's hot and sunny again. We walk along a wide gravel path along the coast from the campsite. Marik asks for his sunglasses and walks on coolly.

I can't explain why he wanted to keep his fleece jacket on at 26 degrees..

He collects stones and puts them in the stroller. Occasionally, he throws some into the sea.

Leo sleeps the first few kilometers.

We make slow progress because we keep an eye out for lizards and look at the boats starting from the port of Krk. We wonder which one Papa might be on and what he is doing right now.

After a while, we turn inland. It's uphill now and Marik wants to get on the board. I have my hands full pushing both kids in the stroller up the steep gravel path.

The path leads back to the campsite after about 4 kilometers. We get ice cream and take a break.

Afterwards, we pack our swimwear and walk to the pools. We spend the afternoon there splashing and sliding.

When the kids are exhausted, we go back to the caravan. I cook noodles and both kids take a short nap.

Tobi returns around 5 p.m.

Tobi's daily report:

Fortunately, I am paired with 2 experienced Swiss technical divers in a buddy team. We do 2 nice dives, the first one is quite deep - about 40m. We see an octopus hunting and eating a big spider crab (a very large crab with a 50cm diameter). I've never seen anything like that before. The visibility is good, but it's very cold at the depth of only 12°C, so I even wear my drysuit. It was really nice to dive in the sea again. It was a great trip with the two friendly Swiss divers in the buddy team.

In the evening, we go swimming again and then have dinner. Tonight there is live music.
