After a rather short night, we set off for Lake George in the morning around 9:30. It had cooled down significantly during the night and it had also rained.
So it was easier for us to leave beautiful Maine behind and head towards Erie.
We had already booked accommodation in Lake George from Germany because we wanted to explore the area in the next three days and didn't want to do any long drives.
That's why we split the approximately 1,200 km into three stages.
The first stage took us to Lake George/NY.
In order to really see something of the area, we chose a route without highways and toll roads. It took quite a lot of time, but it led us through parts of Maine, then through New Hampshire, Vermont, and finally to New York in a comfortable manner.
Unfortunately, we haven't seen the Indian Summer yet. That would have been the icing on the cake, because I have never seen so much healthy, beautiful forest in my life as I did on this day. Unbelievable!
We arrived at our accommodation "the Heritage of Lake George" in the early evening. A nice little motel. Friendly service, clean rooms, two large beds, parking right in front of the room entrance...everything was good.
The young man at the reception recommended a walk to the lake, so we quickly unpacked, freshened up, and started walking.
After the long drive, it was really good for us. The temperature was still around 22 degrees and the air was simply beautiful.
We took some photos, then walked through the quite touristy city center (there is a store that sells only Christmas ornaments. From all topics. Whether it's a burger, tiger, babies, flowers, or tanks....here you can get any ornament for your Christmas tree😳) and finally stopped at an Italian restaurant on Canada Street, where we had a really good dinner on the terrace.
From there, we went back to the motel, where they had lit a campfire outside for guests to sit around. I thought it was a very nice idea.. but we were just exhausted from the driving and just wanted to go to our room.
Plus, we knew that we would continue the next day and wanted to be fit for that.
So, off to bed and good night...💤
