Shortly after half-past nine, I set off towards the beach where I have already swum. It is very windy today and it drizzles lightly from time to time.
We go back up to the steep coast, to a cove. Then a bit inland through scrubland and steppe. Due to the rain, I see for the first time that the snail shells hanging on many plants are also inhabited.
I walk past a ruin and along a dried-up riverbed that leads to a small beach. On the other side, it goes back up to the next beach, and then back down. This happens a few times today - at some point during the day, the sun comes out, and it gets really warm.
For part of the way, I walk together with Tatjana and Sascha from Kassel. We exchange thoughts about our previous hiking days and Portuguese cuisine. In between, I take a lunch break above a beach while they continue on for a bit. We meet up again later and walk together for a while, until my next break at a small beach. From there, we go up to one last small beach and back down again. After the next ascent, suddenly houses appear right in front of me - I have reached Salema. There, I look at dinosaur footprints and watch surfers. I actually want to go into the water myself, but the waves are so high and there are only surfers in the water. Therefore, I only dip my feet in, but I still get soaked up to my hips from the tall waves.
Now it’s just 1.5 kilometers along the road to the campsite. The tent is set up very quickly, so I can dive into the buffet at the campsite restaurant. There are some delicious items, partly traditional and partly vegan - a fantastic combination. 😋
