San Pedro de Atacama Valle de la Luna 01.02.2023

San Pedro de Atacama, 1700 km from Santiago de Chile and 200 km from the Argentine border, is the starting point for excursions in the Atacama Desert. Most people fly to Calama and either rent a car there to travel the 100 km to San Pedro or take the bus. We chose the third option, which was to rent a car in Santiago and drive all those kilometers ourselves.

San Pedro is located at an altitude of 2500 meters, which already causes a slight problem as we get out of breath more quickly. San Pedro Church is one of the oldest churches in Chile. We visited it and then had a very good coffee in the square. Lunch at the Paacha Hotel. Very good entrecote for 16,000 Pesos. French bakery in town.

In the afternoon, we visited Valle de la Luna.
