Day 25, Joe's Birthday - with Jack Scar on Koh Samui

已發表: 17.02.2020

Today we went to Joe's birthday with Jack Scar from the 'Fick und Fertig Tour' across Koh Samui. Many thanks to Samui Deutsch Peter who sent us dear Jack Scar! A funny little detail about Jack: his lovely mom was on the first season of Bauer sucht Frau in Germany in 2009, she is the founder of the famous saying 'fick und fertig' which is also where Jack got the name for his tour ;-) Through the show, the couple, who by the way are still happily married today, became a small celebrity and the entire family was even invited to the royal palace in Thailand last year. Jack himself has also been on television with us, he got to play the tour guide for the love business on ATV.

We started at the beautiful Mimosa Beach, also known as Beckham Beach because the Beckhams own a villa here and often vacation here. The beach was quite rocky and very crowded with families. In between, there was a magnificent view from a mountain and we continued on to Nikki Beach, which was more to our liking, long, soft, spacious and quite empty. There I overcame all my fears and Samuel got to take a (slow) round on the jet ski with Joe, in the last 5 minutes Zwergi wanted to go back and Joe could really speed up.

The next stop was delicious food and a dog and cat rescue foundation that does incredible work and believe it or not, you could simply enter all the enclosures because none of the dogs bite or are dangerous, of course we didn't test that, but instead just made a donation :-)

Next, we went to a coconut plantation, or rather to an owner of monkeys who are hired to harvest coconuts on Koh Samui. It is very controversial and many consider it animal cruelty. Probably it is, the iron ring around the monkey's neck did not look particularly comfortable. Jack told us that it has always been a Thai tradition, as well as cockfights, etc.

Next, we went to a traditional temple, I don't remember which one it was, it was beautiful and Jack told us the wonderful story that one of his guests was here last year and had prayed to get well and now they are coming back to buy a little ship as a thanksgiving and offering for the embalmed monk who is lying here because they have completely recovered in that year. What could be more beautiful than such stories.

Through an impressive rubber plantation, we went to a waterfall and then to a new Chinese temple, which I skipped, Zwergi had finally fallen asleep in the car, late but still.

The tour was impressive and great, but Koh Samui will probably never be more than a stopover for us. Back in Fisherman's Village, Joe finally treated himself to a fish as a birthday meal and we strolled through the shops and street to end our penultimate day.

Warm regards wherever you are, Karin & Joe & Samuel.
