It all started with a train ride to Zagreb. At around 10 o'clock, I got on the train from Venice to Villach. Villach is a small town in Austria and a transfer point for trains to Slovenia and Croatia. In Villach, I had a 3-hour layover before continuing, but I made good use of this time. I had a good meal at a brewery and went to the hairdresser. And the woman did a good job for only 13€. So now the waiting time was over and I boarded the train. Unbeknownst to me, since I was supposed to be on the train for 4 hours, I started watching movies and didn't pay attention to the outside world. After about 1 hour, the train conductor told me that we had arrived and I should please get off. Dumbfounded, I looked outside and saw that I was in Klagenfurt. The damn train had simply split and I couldn't continue my journey to Zagreb. So I checked if there was any other way to get to Zagreb. Fortunately, there was, but it of course took me more time. So back to Villach by train. Then from there to Dobova and from Dobova to Zagreb. Completely exhausted after a 14-hour journey, I collapsed into bed.
The hostel was okay. It was cheap and I had a 4-bed room, but it wasn't very clean and the rooms were very small. And I had a guy in the room who always slept naked. I mean, each to their own, but there were also 2 women in the room and I don't know if they liked it😅
But the hostel had a good location and you got a guide as a gift. This guide divided the city into 3 parts. The Upper Town, the Lower Town, and outside the center. Since I had 2 full days, I simply ignored the outside and on the first day I comfortably explored the Upper Town and on the second day the Lower Town. And on the last day before departure, I visited a museum. But that was unnecessary. I have to say that Zagreb is really beautiful and not too expensive. There are no incredibly unique things to see, but it's still worth it. The guide also led me well to the most important sights. (I think) The most impressive thing for me was the cathedral, but I also liked seeing the church with the cool roof. I also ate well in Zagreb. (See pictures) I especially want to highlight my breakfast, which I didn't take a picture of, but it was sensational. It was just a baguette with ham and cheese for 2 euros, but with some strange sauce and some greens, it was really tasty!
Otherwise, I also read and relaxed there. No more extreme sightseeing.
Oh, I just remembered that I forgot to go into the cathedral. When I was there, there was a church service and I didn't want to go in. And then I forgot. Shame on me.
Next stop is Split!
