Traveling for a long time also becomes boring and exhausting, especially when money gets tight, working again is unfortunately a good option. 🤷🏼♂️
But NEVER again on a kiwi farm. The three weeks of work there completely drained me. Not because the work is overly exhausting, but because of how the workers and supervisors treated us there. It was just disgusting. The bosses only cared about the hectares, and if the target was not reached, there would be trouble. The supervisors pushed us so aggressively in the orchards that I had had enough and said something. But as a small dumb backpacker, you have no right to do such a thing. I was immediately sent home overblown. Two hours later, I swallowed my pride, apologized, and everything was fine again - pointless.
In the rows next to us, the old Mauri were loudly complaining about us and gossiping. We just felt like we were in the wrong movie. But the East of New Zealand has the reputation just like the East of Germany. Opotiki is the little Saxony of New Zealand and also has a reputation for being hostile to foreigners - a shame.
In the end, four others, including us, were fired again because we were allegedly too slow, and the next day everything was fine again. I was just glad when we finally left Opotiki. The Maori there were unusually unfriendly. It was just scary and not a pleasant stay.
