Day 24
Lake Superior is really cold 🥶... It's the deepest and largest of the 5 lakes here and the second-largest freshwater lake in the world. The water quality is excellent, just quite cool.
Marten and I initially drove to the Gooseberry Falls, which are located in the state park of the same name. You can walk on various levels of the falls and dip your feet in the water. Swimming is not recommended, but Marten went swimming anyway like some others too 😁🤔🏊♂️
We took a little walk and then went to the Grand Superior Grill for lunch.
Since we also wanted to get to the coast, we found a spot that is publicly accessible. It's not that easy here because there are many private homes and few roads to the water. But it is hard to get lost 😆
At the Split Rock River, there's a parking lot from which you can reach the water. It was really hot, and the dark stones and dark sand made it even hotter... But the water from the lake was nice and calm AND COLD!
We found a few small agates that Janet also 'certified'. 💪🏻💎
When we got too hot, we headed back over to the Super One Food Market to buy bacon for scrambled eggs with bacon, with eggs fresh from Janet's farm!
Delicious 😋
