We are in Taipei, Part 1

已发表: 31.03.2017

Taipei has a pure industrial port again, so it's not very beautiful.

We didn't book an excursion, but only planned 5 hours in the city center.

Here we got off at the former tallest tower in the world, (No. 101), that's the name of the tower,

which is now only the third or fourth tallest in the world. Similar to Dubai, you can reach the 88th floor in less than 1 minute with the elevator and have a wonderful view, if it's not hazy like in all Asian cities.

When we wanted to withdraw money from the ATM, it turned out that the ATMs couldn't read our Western cards. Before you figure it out, it takes a while

The next hurdle was the taxi. The driver only speaks Chinese (Mandarin) and can't read our writing either. We communicated through Google Maps. The first destination was the tomb of Tchang Kaichek (Mao's adversary). Very monumental, but interesting.

Even more interesting are the Chinese tourists. They constantly want to be photographed with us, young and old alike. This always leads to exciting conversations, but somehow we find a way to communicate.

Then students approached us and wanted to know if we were available for an interview. They wanted to film it and it should be for the student press. Well, then it started, where from, where to, how does the food taste, have we been there before, and so on. It was very fun, entertaining and interesting.

Then back in the taxi to a memorial of Confucius. Here we also took beautiful pictures and the weather was splendid (25 degrees).

At the exit, back in the taxi and towards Tower No. 101. As I said, communication with the taxi driver is difficult, but he is very cheap.

I have separated the second part of the story because it may not be interesting to everyone.
