..I'm currently on a plane to Singapore, it's January 11, 2019. Now, writing about the months of August and September 2018, reviewing them shows me how beautiful that time was and gives me courage and joy for and in Asia..
On the first day in Ogulin, the weather was still very nice and I wanted to explore the campsite at the nearby reservoir (about 3 km) to possibly move there, see the reservoir itself and walk to the center of Ogulin to follow the legend told to me by the Croatian woman on the train..of course, too much for one day..especially since there were several kilometers between all 3 points and I was a bit tired.
On this day, my brain and I began to rethink..that it's not about quantity, but about quality. Not about seeing a lot, taking many photos, for whom? Why? Is it important to me? Isn't it much more beautiful to be in the moment instead of chasing different sights? For me, yes! For many other globetrotters I met along the way, 'no'.
I didn't go to the center during the days in Ogulin. The reservoir is really beautiful to look at. After Hungary and until the end of the first part of my journey, I only went swimming there once. 'Pancake' seems to be typical for Croatia. I treated myself to a portion at a restaurant right by the reservoir.
The campsite was not really appealing. So I asked at my current location if I could stay during the bad weather days. They said yes. If the ground floor vacation apartment was available, I was allowed to use the shower and toilet. By the way, the vacation apartment was regularly occupied. 😎 They didn't want anything from me for it. The day before my departure was so cold and rainy that I took refuge in the restaurant of a nearby hotel and spent the day there. During my time in Ogulin, I also visited a large supermarket to get some things for my onward journey. I sorted out my backpack and left some things behind (see photo) to reduce weight.
The garden grapes were incredibly aromatic. I have never eaten grapes like that before. I was allowed to take another vine with me, which I later processed into oatmeal. Really delicious!
