On our next resting day, we paid the Northern Lights Wolf Centre a visit. Their program is really informative, so we learnt a lot. Did you know that after men eradicated wolves in Yellowstone National Park, the whole ecosystem broke down? And when wolves (from Canada) were reintroduced, everything recovered quickly? That’s a really impressive story, showing the importance of wolves as key species.
We spent the night in an old-fashioned looking bungalow in Brisco. To our big surprise, we even had a large whirlpool in there! Of course, we made the most out of it and relaxed a while in there.
The next day, we used our newly gained energy for sport climbing in Spillimacheen. We sent a couple of routes up to 5.10d and I even on-sighted a crimpy 5.11a, yeah! On our way to the next recreation site we had a quick stop to see the Lower Bugaboo Falls. Unfortunately, there were loads of mosquitos at the campsite, and they couldn’t care less about our anti-mosquito spray. So, we took to our heels the next morning and had breakfast next to the road with a nice view of the Columbia Wetlands.
