Our last day with Mike and Liz. They are flying back to Brisbane tonight. We use the last day together to explore the banks of the Tamar River. We drive to Grindelwald. Yes, you read that right, Grindelwald. This is a resort that the entrepreneur Roelf Vos built in the style of a 'typical' Swiss village. Very funny. After that we drove to Beaconsfield, an old mining town where gold was extracted from the earth. The small miner's houses, the school and the grocery store can still be visited. After that we reached Beauty Point, where I visited a sanctuary for Platypus. How great. These animals are very difficult to see in the wild, as they are mainly active at night and very shy.
So, it got serious. We dropped off Mike and Liz at the airport and drove to Devonport to catch the ferry to the Australian mainland tomorrow.
