Visit from home

Atejade: 31.12.2016

Hi guys,

Klara and I are quite popular as tour guides at the moment, because as soon as our friends flew home, our family was ready to pick us up at the airport. Of course, we were also excited to see Mum and Claudia again. They are visiting us for three weeks in SA and we have a lot planned together. We are planning to drive the Garden Route from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth, and then go to Johannesburg to end the trip with a safari in Kruger National Park.

After arriving in Cape Town, we enjoyed the evening at the Blue Bird Market in Muizenberg, shedding tears of joy.

The next day, we rented a car and drove to the Cape of Good Hope. On the way there, we passed through Muizenberg, Kalk Bay, Fish Hoek, and Simonstown. On the way back, we passed Scarborough and Noordthoek. We returned to Cape Town via Chapman's Peak. Of course, we couldn't miss Table Mountain (for me, it was already the third time). The Pipe Track was perfect for our fitness level.

We started the Garden Route with Stellenbosch. By the way, we traveled with the Baz Bus ticket (Hop-on Hop-off Bus). Stellenbosch is known for its excellent vineyards, so we had to see for ourselves and booked a wine hopping tour from farm to farm with various tastings, such as wine with cheese or chocolate. After visiting 5 wineries, the evening was over, and we spent the next day more quietly in the city center of Stellenbosch.

Next, we went to Oudtshoorn to visit the ostrich farms and the Cango Caves. Before reaching Knysna, we made a little stop in Wilderness at the beach and walked to the Men in the Cave. We also spent some time enjoying the beach.

Upon arriving in Knysna, we took a stroll to the Edward Forest to see a 700-year-old tree. Since the bus doesn't run every day, we occasionally made friends with taxi drivers, and one or two will surely be remembered for their driving style or their character.

I liked the Tsitsikamma National Park so much that I had to show it to Mum and Claudia. The three-hour hike to a waterfall was definitely worth it. And to fully satisfy my sense of adventure, I decided to sign up for a bungee jumping from a 216m high bridge. Always happy to do it again, did you enjoy it too, Klara?

After some exciting days, we finally arrived in Port Elizabeth. There, we rented a car again to go to the ADDO Elephant Park to see lions, zebras, buffalos, elephants, springboks, and warthogs. The next day, we took a township tour to get to know the other side of South Africa.

On December 24th, 2016, we flew to Johannesburg and spent Christmas in a restaurant that served local dishes, including worms, springbok, and kudu. The tour to Kruger NP started on December 25th, 2016. We were all excited to meet our fellow travelers, and in the end, it couldn't have been better. The last few days were almost the best of the entire trip, as we saw landscapes such as flatland, mountains, or savannah and many animals like lions, rhinos, hippos, elephants, giraffes, wildebeests, monkeys, hyenas, and leopards... In general, a lot of wildlife.

The two girls flew back home to Wehringen on December 29th, 2016. We will stay a little longer in Johannesburg because we will only fly to Mumbai, India on January 2nd, 2017.

Thank you, Mum and Claudia, for a very funny, adventurous, and luxurious three weeks. We were delighted that you were here.

Happy New Year 2017 to everyone.

Best regards, Egger Girls

Hi guys,

klara and I are very busy at the moment, because we said goodbye to our friends and hello to our family. Of course, we were very happy to see Mum and Claudia and spend time together. They visited us for three weeks in SA and we did a lot. We drove from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth, and then we flew to Johannesburg to visit the Kruger National Park.

But first, we enjoyed the evening at the Blue Bird market in Muizenberg. The next day, we rented a car and drove through Muizenberg, Calk Bay, Fish Hoek, and Simonstown to the Cape Point. On the way back to Cape Town, we passed Scarborough and Chapman's Peak.

Don't miss the Table Mountain, so we hiked up there (it was the third time for me). We chose the Pipe Track, which was perfect for our fitness level.

The Baz Bus picked us up and took us to Stellenbosch. Stellenbosch is a famous wine tasting area, so we booked a wine tasting tour to five different vineyards. We tasted wine with cheese or chocolate, it was delicious. But we were done for the evening, and we also took it slow the next day. We visited the city center of Stellenbosch.

We continued to Oudtshoorn to visit the ostrich farms and the Cango Caves.

Before we went to Knysna, we stopped in Wilderness to walk to the Men in the Caves and enjoyed the rest of the day at the beach. In Knysna, we visited a 700-year-old tree.

I liked the Tsitsikamma National Park very much, so we hiked to the waterfall, which took us three hours. To add some excitement, I decided to sign up for a bungee jump from a 216m high bridge. Did you like it, Klara?

After exciting days, we finally arrived in Port Elizabeth. There, we rented a car again to go to the Addo Elephant Park. We saw lions, zebras, buffalos, elephants, springboks, and pumbas. The next day, we took a township tour to get to know the other side of South Africa.

On December 24th, 2016, we flew to Johannesburg and spent Christmas in a restaurant that had local dishes on the menu. We ate worms, springbok, and kudu, among other things. The tour to Kruger National Park started on December 25th, 2016. We were all excited to meet our fellow travelers, and in the end, we couldn't have asked for better company. The last few days were some of the best of the entire trip as we saw landscapes including flatlands, mountains, and savannas. We also saw many animals like lions, rhinos, hippos, elephants, giraffes, wildebeests, monkeys, hyenas, and leopards... In short, a lot.

The two girls flew back to Germany on December 29th, 2016. We will stay a bit longer in Johannesburg because we won't leave for Mumbai, India until January 2nd, 2017.

Thanks, Mum and Claudia, for three very fun, adventurous, and luxurious weeks. We were so glad you were here.

Happy New Year 2017 to everyone.

Best regards, Egger Girls
