Still suffering from jet lag, we fell into bed early yesterday...unfortunately our funny neighbors don't care.
he hears loud noises all night long
Salsa music 💃 on the other hand, that's why we're here.
For the
Breakfast is fruit, toast, eggs, juice and coffee.
Unfortunately the weather isn't any better and is expected to stay that way for the week. We actually wanted to go on a boat trip today, but it was pretty stupid given the weather.
So we set off to explore the other part of the old town.
We drink what is supposedly the best coffee in the city in a nice coffee shop in the old town.
The coffee isn't great, but it's really nice to sit in.
Today there are a lot of tourists from cruise ships in the old town.
By the way, there is plastic fruit in the colorful ladies' fruit baskets😂
The water is still so high in some streets that we have to walk over temporary bridges again to avoid getting our feet wet.
At lunchtime at the hotel we try to book our transfer to Minca by bus. This turns out to be more difficult than expected. You won't get very far here with English, so ultimately the translation app has to help. Nevertheless, the boys book us a bus at 6 in the morning, which we don't want (it's vacation after all) and after a lot of back and forth they rebook us for 8 a.m. I have no idea if this will all work🙀
Without Spanish you're really pretty lost here. And we thought Brazil would have been difficult in this regard.
In the afternoon we take another walk through the old town and find a restaurant with a view over Cartagena.
We test local drinks and local food😋
There is aguardiente, a snap made from aniseed and sugar cane served in tin cups. Verdict: OK but you don't have to drink again.
Then Caribbean bowls with coconut rice and vegetables, very tasty. Definitely to put in 😋 delicious.
We spend the evening in the Plaza de la Trinidat, where there is a lot of activity.
We want to get some more beer and find out that no beer is sold here after 6 p.m. on the weekend 🥲
