Cloudy and sunny alternately
We leave our little house in the woods early and turn off 30 km further onto the "Kystriksvei" 17. This road runs along the west coast with many curves, altitude differences and ferry routes and is considered one of the 100 most beautiful roads in the world, let's see!
Soon the landscape changes, becomes rockier and wilder, and takes us from one fjord to the next. Since we want to catch a ferry at 12:00 noon, Gerd speeds up and brings us to the dock on time. Unfortunately, the ferry has just left, but the captain is well disposed towards us and comes back again, saving us 2 1/2 hours of waiting time.
We make a detour to Rørvik, a small harbor town with a modern museum building, which unfortunately is closed today. Nevertheless, we have our lunch break on the benches of the café overlooking the water. Some old wooden houses surround a picturesque harbor basin, otherwise there is not much going on here, and we make our way back to Kv17, among other things, via two adventurous bridges.
We take more time for the rest of the journey, enjoy the constant change of the landscape and another ferry ride, and finally reach our campground Björnvika Natursenter. Here we stay for a few days in a cabin with a fjord view, a well-equipped kitchen and a private bathroom, on a spacious grounds. Blueberries and cranberries grow on the rocky slope behind us, good for dessert and vitamin supply! In the afternoon sun, even the first load of laundry is drying.
