On Friday (30.06.2017) morning, our camping neighbors greet me with something like, 'We've heard of you.' As it turns out, they are two people from Chemnitz who spoke with Monika and Berndt from Dresden the day before. By now, my reputation precedes me...
After breakfast, our Clipper gets some patches before Rango and I head towards Melk. Along the river of the same name, we go northwest, passing the Benedictine monastery and the old town, heading up to the Birago Barracks. From there, we set course for the park of the monastery where I hope to find a shady spot for lunch. Unfortunately, the park is closed for dogs, so instead we make ourselves comfortable in the courtyard of the approximately 300-year-old walls. After braving the midday heat in a shady seating area (thanks to WiFi, time flies), we stroll around the busy grounds of the monastery and then through the beautiful old town. After an ice cream, the weather slowly worsens and we hurry back to the campsite. The heavy rain holds off and we can end the day dry.
