Söderköping, a cute and sleepy town right on the Göta Canal. We really liked that. The old town consists mostly of medieval houses and you can sit and dine in the restaurants by the canal. That's where we enjoyed ourselves. Lunch buffet for 9.50 euros/person. Including all drinks. Well-fed and satisfied, we walked along the Göta Canal. There is a lock right in the village. We have seen the lock operation several times before, but it is always exciting. This time it was particularly exciting because a boat driver did not have control of his vehicle. We suspect it was a rental boat. There were already 2 ships in the lock waiting when he drove into the lock with a very high speed. His wife and daughter were overwhelmed with the ropes and what had to happen happened... It crashed. Fortunately, the boat floated away a bit. So it crashed only against the lock wall, about 50cm next to the other boats. That could have ended badly. In the future, he will probably use a little less speed in narrow passages.
After all the excitement subsided and the little boats sailed on, we continued our journey. After a drive of just under an hour, we found our pitch. Another fantastically beautiful lake in the forest.
