Shortly at the limit

Atejade: 11.10.2023

After the first fairly positive interim balance came a small low.

But before I report on it, we had a few great days.

For example, we went to a concert with the beach volleyball team and then to Eden on the River. The concert was hosted by the Youth Symphony Orchestra from Brisbane, who traveled on a cruise ship. Since the cruise operator is one of the main sponsors of the beach volleyball girls, we were there with the whole team. Then we went to a river with waterfalls and small swimming pools (Eden on the River). The whole team had a lot of fun, took lots of photos and it was a great adventure for us too (especially Pepe). On the same day you can discover many selfies of the players and Anton in the Facebook stories. The river is only 15 minutes away from the capital Port Vila and at the end everyone was brought to the front door.

The following weekend we visited Lowra (our nanny), who lives on the island of Ifira. You can only enter this island if you know someone there and are invited. We met at the jetty at 11 and drove 10 minutes over in a small boat with her mom Leiwia and a cousin and 2 children from their village. We were warmly welcomed by Lowra and her family-in-law and Pepe immediately started playing with the children. Lowra has 3 children of similar ages and Pepe now welcomes the openness of the Ni-Vanuatus and is quickly infected. We had lunch together on the floor in the living room and as a surprise for Leiwia there was singing and a cream cake was cut because she had turned 63 a few days before. The children in particular were already waiting for the delicious cream cake. Afterwards the children played football and to cool off we ran to the beach, which is basically right on their doorstep. We stayed until 3 a.m. and then took the boat back home.

The week after that, everyday life returned. Michel went to volleyball in the morning with or without Pepe and I spent the morning with Anton. Leiwia comes on Wednesdays and Lowra on Fridays and supports us with household chores and Anton. Anton was immediately super happy with both of them and I have some time for myself to do sports, go shopping or just do nothing. At lunchtime we meet either in the city or at home, eat together and think about what we want to do in the afternoon. So far we have often split up in order to accommodate both children fully. It's often quite stressful at home because the two of them can't really play together yet. So the week was quite difficult as we didn't have much to do and Pepe was struggling with digestion. At the weekend it hit us too. Michel was lying flat on Saturday and I on Sunday. Anton also started coughing, Pepe was still the fittest, which didn't make it any easier. So we dragged ourselves through the weekend in additionally cool weather (22 degrees) and were well at the limit. I quickly tend to question everything, which then, thank God, disappears just as quickly ;) The thoughts of a car, which would enable us to do a lot of things, keep coming up. However, there are also so many reasons against it.

At the end of the down we decided to try out the local kindergarten nearby with Pepe. He just needs some kids and action around him.

I'll tell you in the next report how it all worked out, whether Pepe liked it and what a kindergarten day looks like.
