17.10.2018 first day in Cairns

I got ready, ate some breakfast and made my way to the greyhound bus stop. 

Everything went well, the bus arrived on time, my ticket got accepted, and I had a free seat next to me for the entire time.

We drove for about 5 hours. I spent the time looking out the window, taking pictures of the beautiful landscapes. Nnnaaaahh just kidding, I played games on my phone the entire time😁.

In Cairns, I wanted to check into my hostel. However, they said they didn't have my reservation. Until it turned out that this was the 'Waterfront Hostel' and not the 'Mad Monkey Waterfront Hostel'.

After a while, I found the right one. It was all very crammed and a bit chaotic, but I was able to check-in. The receptionist gave me a very quick introduction of where everything is. I was pretty confused and didn't quite know which room I had or where the kitchen was when she already walked away. I just used my card on every room until one of them opened.

The hostel is pretty nice and modern in comparison to the one in Townsville. Also, the free food box here is amazing. The free food box in Townsville usually has like some sauce, salt, or a healthy fruit snack that's just disgusting. But this one had cookies, soft drinks, and milk. 

After that, I went to explore Cairns a bit. I stopped by the beach, which was currently low tide, so there were crabs walking around everywhere. Then I searched around and found another board games club. 

However, everyone there was kind of already in a game, so I didn't have anyone to play with. 

I got a burger at 'Hungry Jacks' because they always say 'the burgers are better at Hungry Jacks'. They weren't better. Should have just gone with McDonald's or Subway. 

Back at the hostel, I got everything ready for tomorrow. Because tomorrow I am going RIVER RAFTING!! That's gonna be pretty cool and a little dangerous. 

However, in the evening, the company called me and said they had to change something so I could go on Friday or tomorrow but with a bigger group. Which I didn't really mind, but it seemed to be a big deal because they gave me a small refund and some extra free water shoes for the raft. But it was still the same time and the same river as before, so not really sure what that was about.

So gotta go to bed now, tomorrow a bus is going to pick me up at 06:35. But before that, there is free breakfast at the hostel because that is part of the price here😁. Even though I went with the cheapest one! So pretty good so far.
