Time flies and we have already left behind the North Island of New Zealand. This afternoon, we arrived at the South Island and are now starting the next stage.
But before that, of course, we still have to talk about our last stop in the southern north: New Zealand's capital Wellington.
The city is noticeably lively and popular and reminds with its quirky shops, many young people, and an almost endless selection of Berlin, just somehow different.
But we didn't just explore the shopping street and the harbor, but also admired the unique Zealandia Park. Unique? Yes, because Zealandia is not just a simple park, but also not a zoo. Here you have the opportunity to experience numerous bird and lizard species in their natural habitat. The forest is not maintained off the paths but left completely to itself, resulting in a nature reserve like no other. The animals stay because they are well there, not because a fence prevents them from flying away.
Of course, a tour of the Weta Workshops couldn't be missed for us movie enthusiasts. Never heard of it? Neither did we. But you should, because Weta has been supplying major productions such as 'Lord of the Rings,' 'Avatar,' 'Marvel's Avengers,' and countless others with handmade props and costumes for many years. With $25 per person, it is quite affordable and absolutely worth seeing!
With these great impressions, our time in the north of the south ends, and tomorrow we will set off to explore the second island.
