chill at the beach

As it is always around 50 degrees here in Cartagena, I am always delighted when I can spend a day or at least a nice afternoon at the beach after school.

There are different beaches in the area, which we of course inspected closely. Most of the time we spent hours on Boca Grande at Playa Hollywood.

Although vendors pass by every 5 minutes, okay every 2 minutes. But hey, that has its advantages: you always have a fresh, cold beer or a freshly mixed cocktail in your hand. You can go very far out and there is usually a cool breeze, which you also need because the water is usually warm.

We have been to Playa Blanca Beach twice already. Once we took a taxi and once we went by speedboat.
This beach is narrower than Playa Hollywood. However, you only have to take 1 step from the sun lounger and you are in the crystal clear, turquoise/blue sea. The water here is definitely more refreshing than the sea at Boca Grande.

Both beaches offer many options to satisfy your hunger. Either you buy mussels, fried fish, fresh fruit, ice cream, coconut or mango with salt from the vendors, or you treat yourself to something from the beach restaurants. Personally, I really like Pollo y patagones. It's chicken with a kind of fried banana. However, the 'banana' tastes more like potatoes than bananas and you can eat it with salt and the juice of a fresh lime. I LOVE IT
