On 24.8. we were finally able to start our first travel stage: Let's go to Canada.
The first stop is Vancouver. Due to the lack of personnel at the airport, an early arrival was recommended and we also didn't have the opportunity to check in our luggage the night before, so we arrived at the airport 3 hours before departure (at 6:30 am). Fortunately, the check-in process went smoothly and quickly (also because we booked Premium Economy and were allowed to use the priority lane...).
The security check was also relatively fast, so we could have breakfast at the gate :-).
We were also among the preferred boarding passengers and were able to comfortably settle in our seats with plenty of legroom.
The flight went smoothly, we flew over Iceland (unfortunately completely covered in clouds) and Greenland (initially with the best view, then also in the clouds) and finally over Canada (north of Hudson Bay and later over the Rocky Mountains, sometimes with quite good visibility).
Arriving in Vancouver on time, we were curious about the immigration process, which had already started at home with installing and using an immigration app. Surprisingly, everything went quickly and smoothly at a self-service kiosk. We knew that upon entry (only possible with full vaccination), individuals would be randomly selected for a COVID test, but we were simply waved through everywhere, great!
So we picked up our rental car (which took a while, but ok...) and headed to the hotel.
Arriving there around 1 pm, we realized that we were too early to check in. However, we were allowed to park our car there and then went straight to the first city tour, although not on a specific route and (yet) without a camera...
