Tag 10 Page - Monument Valley

Atejade: 30.06.2016

Today we said goodbye to Lake Powell. The journey continued eastwards towards Monument Valley. After breakfast, we drove through Page, past one of the largest coal-fired power plants, through the desert of northern Arizona. Along the way, we visited the Navajo National Monument. Here you can see the houses of the Native Americans. Impressive buildings in a canyon that resembles a green garden in the valley floor. A beautiful contrast to the desert at the top of the canyon. On the approach to the national monument, the brakes of our camper started to squeal louder and louder. Finally, two warning lights also came on. After a short stop, the lights went out again and the squealing became less. So we continued our journey, hoping that the brakes wouldn't let us down.

After about two hours of driving, we reached Monument Valley. An impressive backdrop unfolded before us from one mile to the next. Our campground is located in the midst of the valley. Among the rocks glowing red in the evening sun.

For a change, there are no large pieces of meat for dinner tonight. Spaghetti Carbonara also taste wonderful in the twilight of Utah.
