Today's tour plan is clear, but no less spectacular. We started the iron horses in the morning in the best weather to ride towards Chinle, Arizona. We are leaving the Motherroad behind now and drove on a highway in a beautiful landscape to Ganado to Hubbels Trading Post. The base is still historic and tells the story of J.L Hubbels, who set up a trading post to exchange and trade with his Native American friend at the end of the 19th century.
From now on, and also in the next few days, we are in the Navajo Indian Reservation and the population is predominantly Native American, at least I didn't see any white people today.
We arrived in Chinle early around lunchtime, where we went directly to the Canyon de Chelly National Park after a short break.
Breathtaking landscapes, deep valleys and canyons surrounded by red, sometimes steeply rising rocks characterize this Canyon de Chelly. Visually, it is even more impressive to me than the Grand Canyon. The name means rock canyon and the landmark is a double rock that rises straight up about 240 meters, called Spider Rock. Evidence of human habitation from 4500 years ago has been found here. Unfortunately, words or pictures cannot come close to describing this natural spectacle. Insane.....
Conclusion of the day: Once again completely blown away by the landscapes and natural monuments in the USA.
