The alarm clock rang at 4.25 a.m. After a short night and armed with two packed lunches that were prepared for us in the hotel, we cycled to the bus station,
a large, clean, multi-story facility that is also served by the Flixbus. The bus is on time, but the bikes are stored in the luggage compartment.
We eat before catching the train, find a friendly pizzeria about 1km away, but try to avoid the Federal Chancellery for fear of contagious forgetfulness.
After a 10-hour bus ride and a break in Berlin, we took elevator rides in the train station (who actually takes care of the parameterization of the elevator control so that its doors can open and close more quickly?) and a 4-hour ride on the ICE to Duisburg (completely problem-free, almost on time, relaxing), from where our daughter picked us up by car.
We have covered 8930 meters of altitude and 1440 km by bike, and 5 days in Krakow full of sightseeing and intellectual nourishment (and nourishment in the form of good Polish cuisine). Some days with "lousy weather", a few with warmer temperatures and the ever-present wind, which also often drove us along. There were no defects or flat tires, only the chain needed to be re-lubricated and the brake pads on the rim brake cleaned because aluminum abrasion had collected in them and, along with unpleasant greasy noises, reduced the braking performance.
During the trip we were constantly aware that we were accompanied and protected by the Lord!
Dear reader, at this point we would like to say goodbye to you and thank you for your support over the past three weeks, for keeping your fingers crossed and for your prayers! We hope we were able to share a little of our little adventure with you.
