Ayutthaya

Atejade: 31.03.2019

It started with us not wanting to take a tuktuk from the train station to the city center and we walked instead. However, we got lost with our heavy backpack in the heat and the mood sank. Then luck came: A woman tapped us on the back and asked if she could help. The end of the story was that she showed us the streets by car and we found a cheap accommodation with a pool and saved the tuktuk.

On the program list of Ayutthaya there was actually only: Visit temples and ruins. On the first day there we were very tired, even though we had slept on the night train. It was a funny experience to take the train, especially because we wanted to watch Netflix together in a bunk bed and almost always one of us fell out.

Back to the first day: Of course, we first enjoyed the pool in the heat and went to a ruin at noon, but it was unbearable outside. It was 38 degrees. We were both just complaining 😂, but even the locals advised us not to do anything at noon.

We had to wash our clothes slowly. There were no more panties to wear 😂, but our accommodation demanded an outrageous price for us to wash our clothes there. So we walked down the street and washed our laundry for less than a euro in a washing machine on the street. We bought a cord and hung the clothes in the room. We hoped that no employee would notice. 😂

The remaining days we drove to various temples and ruins by moped or bicycle, super impressive. In Ayutthaya, we came into contact with Buddhism a lot and wanted to learn more. Since many explanations at the sights are only in Thai, we watched a little documentary. You can also see many monks living at the temples and mostly living on donations.

Slowly, after a while, we also developed an appetite for Western food. Rice, noodles, and vegetables are our main meals here. There was western food across from our accommodation at a reasonable price. During our stay, we went there to eat a total of

7 times 😂 it was awesome.
