Ikaya House of Hope - House of Hope

Ikaya is the township school sponsored by Never at Home. There are about 100 children between the ages of 5 and 13 throughout the school who have either AIDS-infected parents or alcohol/drug-dependent parents who can no longer take care of them. All these children live in absolute poverty and misery, yet they are full of energy and joy of life, which was really inspiring to see and reminded me once again how well off I actually am and how blessed I am with everything in my life! In one of the rooms, the children had hung self-made 'wish boards' and all the things they had glued there are of course self-evident for me in my life. So the visit to Ikaya was a reminder for me not to take anything for granted in life and to learn to appreciate the little things in life (sounds so cliché, but it is bee so true!)
