Distance 97 kilometers, cumulative 2,543 kilometers | Elevation 1,370, cumulative 18,230

Today, it was particularly important to use the battery sparingly. The route was a big challenge at 99 kilometers and 1,300 meters in altitude. It began after just 6.6 kilometers with a steep climb. But even before that, a special task had to be solved. The path, which was actually just a dirt track, led over a track without any safety barriers or anything else. I also had to do it with the eBike, which made things even more difficult.

The climb to a height of around 280 metres was very taxing on my battery. But I managed it without pushing. I found the subsequent descent worse. Here I preferred to brake the bike on foot. It just seemed safer to me and it saved my brake pads.

Then I met the first pilgrims. Many of them were walking alone, others in pairs and often there were groups of more than 10 people. And there were more and more of them. There must have been hundreds that I had to overtake one after the other. I can't say how often I had to ring the bell. There were pilgrims who only reacted after ringing a few times. On the one hand it slowed me down, but on the other hand I was sorry that I had to disturb them.

After just over 60 kilometers, I took a lunch break and looked at the map. I looked for alternatives that would also save power. Because at this altitude, I didn't think I would be able to reach Santiago. I found the way out on the N-55, the main road. It looked good to me and also saved me some distance. Above all, I could make quick progress on it and didn't have to disturb any pilgrims. When I then got the impression that there was now enough battery capacity to manage the rest, I switched back to the pilgrimage route. But it kept going uphill, even within Santiago it was almost all uphill.

I booked the accommodation I was looking for about 30 minutes before I arrived. It was an accommodation that had excellent reviews and still had space. Eva, the co-owner, opened a room for me that was specially designed for bicycles.

After a refreshing shower, nothing stood in the way of a visit to the city. First and foremost, I wanted to see the destination of all pilgrims and also have something to eat. I have included the photos of this in this blog.

After much back and forth deciding which route to take tomorrow, I have come to the conclusion that I will take the EV-3. This is the pilgrim route, but it has more options for overnight stays. And the further I get away from Santiago, the fewer pilgrims there will be.

By the way, I still owe you one number: the battery still had enough capacity for 3 kilometers when we arrived. 😊🚴‍♂️

Today it is especially important to use the battery with moderation. The race was a great descent of 99 kilometers and 1,300 meters in altitude. Started with a strong subdued gradient after just 6.6 kilometers. But before that I had to resolve a special issue. The path, which in reality was just a trail, talked about an unprotected path and nothing. Also, if you do this with the eBike, it's even more complicated.

Submerging at a height of 280 meters took a lot out of my battery. But I'll just do it without taking it away. The descent backwards seemed too much to me. Here I prefer to brake the motorcycle on the feet. Simply I felt safer and softer for my brake pads.

Here I meet the first pilgrims. Many of them walk alone, others in couples and often have groups of more than 10 people. And every time there was more. We must be scientists who think that we are supervising a little bit. I cannot decide with what frequency to use the timbre. Some pilgrims only responded after opening the camp a few times. On one side I braked, but on the other side I complained that I had to stop.

After just over 60 kilometers we paused to rest and looked at the map. Looking for alternatives where you can also save electricity. Because these heights make it difficult to get to Santiago. The exit is met by the N-55, the main road. I felt good and also saved the distance. Above all, you can advance quickly and without worrying about any pilgrim. When the impression that there was sufficient battery capacity to do the rest, I changed from new to the hiking route. But things continue to be subordinate, including within Santiago things almost always remain subordinate.

Please reserve the accommodation approximately 30 minutes before arrival. It is an extremely valued accommodation and also offers plenty of space. Eva, the co-owner, opened a room specifically designed for bicycles.

After a refreshing shower, no one bothers you on the way to visit the city. The first thing I wanted to do was see with my own eyes the destination of all the pilgrims and eat something. I also added these photos to this blog.

After much searching and coming to decide which route to take tomorrow, he came to the conclusion that the EV-3 had been taken. This is the new hiking route, but it has more options to avoid. And how much more than I had expected from Santiago fewer pilgrims.

Of course, I still have to say that the battery is only capable of 3 kilometers when we charge it. 😊🚴‍♂️
