Maybe there will be less wind later today, the woman at the reception said with a hint of sympathy. Then we were off. The first part of the path ran along the cliff edge and was like a Hiddensee XXL. A narrow path up and down the cliffs with a lot of wind. Later we headed inland towards the fjell. The path was hilly, going up and down through fields and sheep pastures. We felt like we opened 50 sheep gates, and each one works differently. And then came the rain, a lot of rain, so that some paths were completely underwater, more like small streams. My gear held up well during the stress test (only my backpack was damp inside despite the rain cover). But Anne was swimming in her hiking boots :-( We opted to skip the first mountain because of the rain and walked along the road to Ennerdale Bridge. There we took hot showers, wrapped ourselves in thick white bathrobes, and blow-dried our things.
