Day 23: Myra Canyon

Atejade: 26.07.2022

At 6:30 am, our night ends and we want to be at Myra Canyon at 9 am to pick up our rented bikes. The journey takes an hour and the last few kilometers are very bumpy on the unpaved road. Shortly after 9 am, we are sitting on our bikes. The ride takes us along an old railway track through the canyon. The highlight is the many wooden bridges along the route. The tour is 22 kilometers long and relatively flat. We are making good progress. David is riding as a tandem with René. After 11 kilometers, we turn around and take a break at one of the wooden bridges. There, a Golden Mantled Ground Squirrle and a Chipmunk visit us. We could clearly see the differences between the animals. The sun is shining, but thanks to the trees and the breeze from riding, it is pleasant to ride. We learn from signs that in 2003 a fire raged and destroyed many of the wooden bridges. They were then rebuilt by volunteers. After 2 hours, we return to the parking lot.
Then we continue south. After a lunch break, we relax at Powell Beach. We go swimming and enjoy the sun. The Okanagan Lake
refreshes us and then we drive through the city of Penticton. We don't have the energy or desire for a tour of the city. We reach our campsite around 6 pm, which is a gold place today.
We cook our dinner, while the children play horseshoe throwing. We fall tired into bed in the evening.
