Day 4 - Tallinn - July 31, 2019

Atejade: 07.08.2019

Woke up when it was already bright. Calm sea overnight. Now it's a bit choppy, but only slightly. Thick clouds in the sky. We are now in the Gulf of Finland on our way to Tallinn. By the way, there is a time difference of 1 hour.

Breakfast again at Fontane (Eggs Benedict and omelette with spinach). We arrived in Tallinn at around 9 o'clock.

Then off the ship and on foot to the Old Town, about 1 km. Past the thick Margarete,

we entered a maze of streets with cobblestones and lovingly restored houses.

The streets were still quite empty, but that soon changed. The small Old Town was teeming with tourists. Tallinn has many churches, the most beautiful of which is probably the Russian Orthodox Church of Alexander Nevsky

on Toompea Hill in the Upper Town. The German Embassy is also located here.

We saw some embassies, the Russian, Italian, Spanish, Swedish, French, Irish, etc. (we only saw European embassies, but there are others too), but no 2 in one street. Then we went to the market on the Town Hall Square and, feeling a bit chilly, had a cappuccino in one of the numerous street cafes.

As we paused, the sun came out and it got quite warm. Tallinn has many small shops with glass, ceramics, wood, textiles, crafts, and of course, many souvenir shops. We bought a few cups, buttons made of juniper wood, 2 shawls, an earring, a dress, and a fridge magnet. The way back to the ship was quite long. We were quite tired, but it was a nice trip, a great city. There is a lot of love in this city.

After a short rest, it was already dinner time. We ended the evening in the wine bar with Merlot and live music by Jack Fiorini and Tom Scott.
