11th/12th May. Decadent at Ayers Rock

Atejade: 12.05.2018

For my birthday, we treated ourselves to a two-day stay in the luxury lodge 'Longitude131' at Ayers Rock. From the bed in our 'tent', which is actually a luxurious equipped cottage, you have a direct view of the Rock. We are being spoiled. Excursions in the morning and evening, of course with refreshments in between with canapés and a drink of your choice. Great multi-course menu for lunch and dinner and an open bar including real champagne. Isn't that awesome?

Yesterday we had the sundowner near the Rock and then a visit to the 'Field of Lights'. An artist has set up 50,000 LED lights in the desert here. Looks impressive. Today we went to Kata Tjuta, the 'Olgas', at 06:30 in the morning. That's also a rock formation. The evening excursion will take us closer to Ayers Rock again.

We expected temperatures above 30 degrees here, but it's really cold (19 degrees during the day and around 5 at night with quite some wind). For yesterday's dinner under the stars, we even wore our ski underwear again.

PS: We flew here from Sydney with Virgin Australia in 3.5 hours.
