Yesterday, I embarked on a new adventure: to Malaysia!
Before heading there, I spent 2 days in Krabi, a city in southern Thailand. I had planned just one day, but I wanted to book my bus for the next morning a bit late, and unfortunately, it was already fully booked. However, that wasn't a problem, as Krabi is (despite a lot of rain) a wonderful city and since I was here last year, it feels familiar, allowing me to stroll around without GPS. I dedicated the extra day to organizational tasks like doing laundry, taking a broken skirt to the tailor, and planning and booking for my further travel.
After 2 days in Krabi, I traveled for 10 hours by minivan to George Town, a city in northern Malaysia. The journey was long, and unfortunately, I arrived in Malaysia with a headache and a queasy feeling in my stomach in the evening.
Malaysia is definitely different from Thailand. The people, the food, the atmosphere of the city; all of this I have to get used to a bit. In the evening at the hotel, I felt a bit down. Physically, I wasn't feeling great, and the fact that I hadn't been to the sea even once since the beginning of my trip and also hadn't seen the sun for a week; coupled with so much rain, made me a bit unhappy.
However, the weather in Malaysia is at least a bit better than in Thailand; here, there are showers but in between, the sun shines, which immediately lifts the mood :)
Today, I started with a delicious breakfast, after I couldn't eat anything at all the day before. Now, I'm walking a bit through the old town, as there is a lot of street art here in Georgetown that you can discover at every corner. Of course, I'm also checking out the coffee scene, as it's always exciting to try coffee in other countries and see unique locations.
Later, I'm off to Little India, as there is said to be super good Indian food there!
How long I ultimately stay in Malaysia, I will decide spontaneously. However, I'm planning for 1-2 weeks, so it's more of a shorter stop on my journey.
After George Town, I will head to the Cameron Highlands to see the tea plantations and hike through the mountains! Then, I'll go to Kuala Lumpur and from there possibly to an island in eastern Malaysia or to Indonesia for some sun!
