Crete the soul of the Mediterranean
The secret of Crete runs deep. When you set foot on the island, you feel a mystical power that flows warmly and comfortably through your body, as if your soul is growing. These are the words of the famous Cretan writer Nikos Kazantzakis. These words could not be more accurate. Often I stood somewhere, had to take a deep breath to absorb all the beauty. Or there were parking spaces that I simply felt mystical.
Crete fascinated us with its impressive, majestic landscapes, the respectful and tolerant treatment of us motorhome travelers. Of course, the abundant history of Crete is also worth mentioning.
We just want to say thank you for this wonderful time.
Yesterday we met two very nice travelers again. We chatted for a while this morning before we visited the Greek pilgrimage site Lidl for the last time.
Now we are at the port, overlooking the ferry that will hopefully take us to the mainland safely tonight. It's raining and windy, good, as it makes it easier for us to say goodbye.
My biggest hope today is that the steamboat doesn't rock so much and that the vomit bags don't have to be used.
