... our day started with this song by Rascall Flatts. 100% chance of rain - a good day to continue driving. We had a delicious breakfast at IHOP, bought some water for the road at Family Dollar, and I really wanted to see the 1:1 replica of the Parthenon. It's an impressive building in the middle of the city, located in a beautiful park. Nadine was especially fascinated by the countless squirrels...
For our final farewell, we drove down Broadway around 1 pm. It wasn't as crowded, but live music was playing in all the bars again. Fantastic.
We headed east into the Great Smoky Mountains, accompanied by the rain. Just before Pigeon Forge, we made a stop at a boat factory outlet, and as you can see, we were very successful.
Pigeon Forge itself is as extraordinary as I perceived it years ago when passing through. It's a bit crazy like Las Vegas, only smaller and without the casinos.
We checked into Margeritaville The Island, located in the midst of a small amusement park. We have a room on the seventh floor with a great view of the park. Before we settled in, we took advantage of the rain stopping for a short walk through the park. Lots of little shops, everything colorful, good vibes with a Caribbean flair. It's a shame we're only here for one night.
