We drive a beautiful route through the 'mountains', passing archaeological sites and olive trees.
A car stops, the man asks interested what we are doing, gives us cold water and takes a souvenir photo.
25 km before Alexandroupolis (that was the destination for the day) we pass by a beach.
At the end there is a lonely caravan in front of which 2 men are grilling a goat on a spit (we know that from roast pig).
They shout 'Tourist beer?' and suddenly we sit at the table with Mimi and Kostas and are invited to eat.
More and more people come, the beer and homemade wine flow in streams...
Later, a watermelon is cut open and eaten in the sea to refresh.
The fridge is full of beer and so it is inevitable that some people are really drunk.
The scary thing is, they all still drive cars!
Even the one who just fell drunk from the chair - with his wife and 2 children!!!
Later we are taken to a village festival by Larissa (who is sober), where we are invited to souvlaki and beer.
Another 'resident' Christos, 80 years old, fisherman, invites us to camp on his property.
Wednesday 26.7.
Christos says he would be happy if we stayed another day.
Bettina and Georg, 2 Germans we met the day before, already know him from previous vacations and are invited to dinner with us.
Before that, Patrick and I go out to cast nets
:)
