Aloha Hawai'i

Atejade: 09.06.2017

After over 9 hours of flight we arrived in hot Honolulu on the island of O'ahu.
7:30 am found a shady spot on the beach.
It is so hot in Hawaii...

Waikiki Beach

Surfboard Rental

Flowers everywhere.

The receptionist at the hostel.

Sunset at Waikiki Beach.

Even the green sea turtles occasionally make themselves comfortable on the beach.

The landmark of Honolulu is the Diamond Head. A mountain range that can be climbed... That's what we're doing!
The view was great, but the way there was strenuous (especially because of the heat).

Diamond Head from above.

Afterwards we went to the farmers market... for some cooling off.

Looking for European bread... unfortunately failed.

There is plenty of fruit though.

We actually swore not to hike anymore in this heat, but then there was the Koko Crater Trail. The view is supposed to be very beautiful and it's just a few steps...
We had rested, so we can hike a little bit again.
Haha. After what felt like 10 steps we were completely soaked in sweat and we still had a long way to go.

Who actually had the idea to go up there!?

Once we reached the top we were rewarded with a great view and a cool breeze.

Makapuu Lighthouse.

Makapuu Bay.

After a few days on O'ahu we went to the Big Island.

Waipio Valley.

Rainbow Falls, but no rainbow (no sun in the sky).

Akaka Falls.

There are also cool spots on Hawai'i. It gets really cold on Mauna Kea in the evening.

Silversword only grows on Hawai'i.

Volcano National Park.

Here we looked at active volcanoes.

Hot lava flows into the sea and the island grows.

We spent a few days at the Aloha Tropical Farm.

It's nice to be here.
