Hong Islands by a Long-tail boat

פֿאַרעפֿנטלעכט: 04.03.2024

We have a plan for tomorrow. It's still a bit wobbly, but it works roughly like this.

We organize a long-tail boat and hop from island to island.

Do you know what I mean? 😉

We have zero idea. Actually just longing, but as we all know, it's the best fuel 💥 of everything. Longing once carried me all the way to Sri Lanka, and maybe it will help me turn my life around again. Now she has swept me to this place, far from the city of Krabi, close to the sea. When you travel to distant lands, a seed is planted that lies patiently dormant. And who knows, at some point my longing would germinate and I would go on a long journey of discovery through half the world.🌍

But now there are only the islands 🏝️ in front of us that we want to explore together with “Phas” our skipper. He washed up on our beach with his boat as if by chance and gave us a good price. 2,200 baths. Elsewhere you pay twice as much. But the best thing is that we get along well and laugh a lot together. We tell him that we would like to have an adventure with Monkeys 🐒 and Sharks 🐡 and perhaps Pinacolada instaed of Coconut. We have to laugh again and are excited for tomorrow.

The water here has a different shade of indescribability every day: sometimes sky blue with clouds, then again sky blue without clouds. ☀️ Because there are high and low tides here, there are stones where there were none yesterday and the wind has washed up a lot of shells 🐚.

Searching for clams and chicken gods is a childhood pastime that never gets old. You go step by step, occasionally bending down, turning over a shell, putting it back down, moving on. A kind of meditation for us stressed-out Europeans. You could add the word “meditation” to any monotonous activity in order to slow down.

Walking meditation, potato meditation, ironing meditation, weeding meditation.

For our two sisters, however, things are a little different.

Sabine looks downwards, I look straight ahead. You could also interpret it like this: Sabine has the role of the collector👩‍🦯 and I have the role of the hunter. The distribution of roles works.

I'm just curious how we get the tons of mussels through customs? A smile has to be enough.😬

We are picked up by “Phas” around 11 a.m. and the long boat, powered by a motor, glides quickly through the water. 🛶We see huge, bright red glowing torments, 🪼 (red) that look beautiful. The water shimmers turquoise blue and whenever the spray is whipped up by the boat, the water shimmers interwoven with silver.

After half an hour of boat mediation we reach the crowded pier. However, as we cross the jetty, the beautiful bay stretches out in front of us. We are super excited. This is pretty much how “Robinson Junior” must have felt when he entered his island 🏝️. I can't help but think of this film, where the Milanese fashion czar Roberto Mighelli goes on a cruise with her at the urging of his wife Magda. The ship sinks and Roberto can escape to a beautiful island. When I saw this film in a campground cinema on Usedom in 1982, I thought how nice it would be to experience beaches like that. And now I'm here in the flesh.

Kop khun ka for this beautiful day.🙏🏼
