On Monday, 25.11, I had my second day in Calgary. According to the weather forecast, this was supposed to be my warmest day and the one with the most hours of sunshine, so I wanted to make the most of it. I had already explored downtown the day before, so on this day, I focused on the northeast.
First, I took a walk along the water. The George C. King Bridge took me to St. Patrick Island, where I had a beautiful view of the Calgary skyline. The Elbow and Bow rivers merge here, making the water very lively and changing the landscape. However, in winter, the water level is very low.
After the island, I walked to Inglewood, the oldest neighborhood in Calgary. It is characterized by many small boutiques and restaurants. You could almost think that you are in a small town and not in the fourth largest city in Canada...
Arriving in the Fort Calgary neighborhood, which was founded by the North West Mounted Police, you can learn a lot about the history of Calgary. Unfortunately, most of the pedestrian paths were closed for renovation, so I couldn't see the information boards.
The highlight of this day came at the end: the Calgary Tower. The 190-meter-high observation tower is one of the landmarks of the city and is located in the middle of downtown. Once you reach the top, you have a view of the entire city. Because the weather was good, I could even see the snow-covered Rocky Mountains.
