For a week, we are staying at Hostal Tuyasto in San Pedro de Atacama. It is a very simple, quiet, and pleasant hostel. The rooms are basic and cleaned every day. Each room has a small bathroom with a shower, toilet, and sink. There is also a small kitchen that guests can use, but they must leave it clean.
The woman 👩🏽, who owns the property, is very nice and takes care of everything: breakfast, check-in & check-out, cleaning, etc. However, she only speaks Spanish. In general, English is not widely understood here among the locals (no chance in the supermarket, on the street, or at the hostel). I am very grateful that my sister learned Spanish so well during her exchange semester that she can communicate with the locals. Because I don't speak Spanish. Most other tourists speak Spanish.
The room (without heating) is quite cold, so you should dress warmly at night. Because once the sun goes down, it gets cold and the houses are not very well insulated. Besides, it is currently winter in Chile ❄️
